Using FX Fee Finder
Frequently asked questions
Start here for questions about checking a completed international payment involving South African rand.
What does FX Fee Finder check?
The checker helps you understand the estimated exchange-rate spread and separate transfer fee on a completed outward or inward ZAR payment. Read about the tool and its sources for more context.
What information do I need?
Payment details can come from a confirmation or manual entry. Check the conversion amounts, payment direction, date, time and fee information before relying on the result. The payment fee checklist explains what to look for.
Do I need an account to test a payment?
No account is required to test a payment. You can upload a confirmation or enter the payment details manually. Read the privacy notice before using the service.
Is an exchange-rate spread the same as a SWIFT fee?
No. The conversion cost and a separate transfer charge are different parts of a payment. Confirm unclear or missing deductions with your payment provider. The SWIFT fees and exchange-rate markup guide explains the distinction.
Is the reference rate a live transfer quote?
No. The tool compares supplied conversion amounts with an available historical market reference near the payment time. A reference rate is a comparison point, not a promise that you could have traded at that rate. The worked calculation example explains the inputs and result labels.
Does an estimate prove an overcharge or guarantee savings?
No. Results depend on the payment information supplied, document quality and the historical rate available. An estimate does not prove an overcharge or wrongdoing, provide a live transfer quote or guarantee savings. Estimates and guides are general information, not financial advice.
